School & Dignity: nine children, three families, one school term

26-08-2026

This week our School & Dignity e-mail campaign began. Nine children from three Kenyan families are orphaned or were abandoned by their parents; in each family an older sister or cousin of around 22 cares for them. The new school term has started, but school fees, books and uniforms are out of reach. School fees come first; the girls also receive reusable menstrual kits.

This week our School & Dignity e-mail campaign began. By e-mail we are asking our relations and donors to help nine children from three Kenyan families through this school term.

Nine children, three families

The children are orphaned or were abandoned by their parents. In each family an older sister or cousin – herself only around 22 – tries to care for them. There is barely enough food on the table; school fees, books and uniforms are out of reach. The new term has already started. Without swift help these children stay at home, while education is precisely their way out of poverty. School fees are therefore our first priority.

Present every school day

For the girls, paid school fees are not enough. Without menstrual products they miss lessons every month. That is why we also provide the girls in these families with reusable menstrual kits, made locally in Kenya by Alice Wambui’s Smile Star’D Enterprise, following the Days for Girls concept.
